The River Village Brings Community Activities to Big Bass Blowout Weekend

The Big Bass Blowout returns to the Massena Intake Dam on Saturday and Sunday, August 8 and 9, and this year there will be plenty happening on shore in addition to the fishing tournament.

The River Village is a new community experience being led by the Massena Artists Association. The goal is to bring local organizations together and offer free activities, demonstrations and information for children, teens and adults throughout the weekend.

The event will run between 10AM-2PM on both days of the tournament.

The fishing tournament remains the main attraction, with boats launching each morning at 7:00 AM and hourly weigh-ins taking place throughout the day before Sunday’s championship awards.

Visitors can enjoy a Library Story Walk, live art demonstrations, children’s activities, PAL programming, food preservation information from Cornell Cooperative Extension, St. Lawrence River history from the Massena Museum and scenic walking trails throughout the Intake grounds.

FREE hamburgers, hot dogs and coleslaw will be provided by Boutique Air while supplies last.

PAL of Massena will also have water and soda available for purchase, with proceeds supporting local youth programs.

The River Village complements the Big Bass Blowout by creating a place where families, residents and visitors can explore, learn and connect while enjoying everything happening throughout the weekend.

The River Village is an initiative of the Massena Artists Association in partnership with participating community organizations.

Explore Massena is proud to provide promotional support for this community initiative.
